What is the crucible argumentative essay, the crucible argumentative essay, "always tell the truth– it's the easiest thing to remember." (david mamet). in arthur, miller's the crucible, there has been a conflict arising dealing with the fear of witches after a couple, girls were caught dancing in the woods, hence the salem witch trials. many of us have been told at, least once in our lives, not to lie, since it was the wrong thing to do. in this story, that's not the case, with reverend hale since he tells elizabeth proctor that no ethic, however glorious is worth dying, for and he argues that it is better to give a false confession than to die for a principle of belief. in my, opinion, this statement is paradoxical. some people may assert that it is okay to lie to save a life or, your own, however, i believe they aren't seeing the big picture; first of all, when a person lies during, these trials they are condemning others who may or may not be guilty, continuing the cycle of, prosecution, destroying their own reputation, and sinning by lying., first and foremost, in this play a lie, if supported by more lies, spreads like fire; a lie means more, people dead, including those who were innocent. by this point in the play, many people were being, sent to trial and sometimes dying, because of the lies told by the girls. in act 3, danforth asks mary, warren, "then you tell me that you sat in my court, callously lying, when you knew that people, would hang by your evidence answer me" (miller 97). she responds by stating "i did,", get more content on studyhub, persuasive letter to the crucible, in salem, many witches have been convicted. the people who have not confessed must face their, consequences. now that one of the most renowned witches has been caught and convicted, why, must we consider stopping the executing of witches goody proctor has to be hanged for she is a, witch. she has never and will never worship our god. goody proctor will only see the darkness., therefore she has hurt the people of our village. why would anyone ever let her live why give, back her life she has ruined her image in salem. goody proctor has and will always see and be, able to communicate with the darkness and his demons. must i remind you about the doll found in, the proctor's home i am reminding you of the deadly needle she stuck in me to try to kill.., more content..., now a question might be asked, what if she is to confess to witchcraft. my answer is do not let her, control you. she will try to harm you but you, and whoever she must to get her freedom back. i have, seen this manipulation firsthand. she has tried controlling me multiple times, trying to gain control, of my mind, my body, and my movements. be warned that she will try this same manipulation with, you. no matter what happens, no matter what goody proctor says, she must be executed. another, warning for anyone who is interested in the child. you never know what this woman give birth to,, not only this upcoming child, but the two others at her home. her children may seek revenge upon, their mother's death, so just be warned. salem has seen its fair share of witches. we have done the, correct thing and have executed them. goody proctor should not be an exception, she must be dealt, with the same way all the others have been dealt with. goody proctor must be hanged. it is your, duty to protect this village and anyone who lives here. do salem a favor and kill the worst witch, ever found, goody, is the crucible still relevant today, the crucible not only has witches and delusional people but also universal conflicts that apply in, the 17th, 20th, and 21st century. the spread of the hysteria throughout salem was thanks to the, citizens dire need of revenge. then the next problem comes– who do you trust there's no bigger, person just the 1st one to do wrong and then the 2nd. the crucible still is relevant to us today, because people are always put in situations where they must choose revenge or trust., persuasive essay on the crucible, the crucible persuasive essay arthur miller conveys an intrusive community where characters, strive for a clean name in the crucible, which is still evident in modern day through the action of, politicians and celebrities maintaining their images using different communication techniques. the, salem witchcraft crisis reflects the personal reputation of the characters, similar to how americans, make decisions based on their appearance on social media. the crucible is useful to modern, americans because they can learn from the past through mistakes and common themes that are, presented in the play. whether actions are correct or incorrect humans tend to act on them like, abigail from the play or president trump to gain recognition from society. a recurring topic in, history is citizens attempting to gain social status through publicity. for instance, abigail being the, reverend's niece is believed to have "no blush about [her] name"; however she commits sins such as, dancing in the forest and leading john proctor away from his wife (miller 1239). abigail persecutes, individuals to divert the attention from her sins, but by doing so, she provokes mass hysteria in the, town of salem. while her scheme is in the works, abigail seeks more attention from the towns, people by proclaiming, "i want the light of god, i want the sweet love of jesus" to distract the, attention from tituba (miller 1262). the reason being for stealing tituba's moment is gaining, acknowledgement from people with a high status in the salem village such as reverend hale. in, parallel, today president trump has an influential position in society who expects him to act, diplomatically. trump differs from past presidents by his "unpredictable use" of the social media site, twitter (lomas 1). citizens often call this tool that furthers his policies a "cyber bully tactics", (lomas 1). trump continues his tweets because the attention he receives from people around the, world. with a background in business, trump is often found using his personal online accounts to, manipulate competitors, "toyota motor said will build a new plant in baja, mexico, to build corolla, cars for u. no way build plant in u. or pay big border tax."(@realdonaldtrump). some, individuals have, persuasive letter the crucible, 822 mckillop court petaluma, california, 94954 december 5, 2015, dear broox,, you have been gone for so long and i miss the sound of your voice, your gentle touch, and the way, you hold me and make me feel safe. right now i really need that, here in the states people are going, crazy and there is mass hysteria about communism. i do not feel safe anymore in our home, i fear, that our kids will be persecuted like everyone else and you will not be here to protect us and save us., senator john mccarthy has "brain washed" everyone into thinking that people who are communists, are evil and bad. he says anyone could be a communist and now people are accusing anyone and, everyone of being a communist. it is funny, before you left we read.. more content..., they would say one has committed witch craft and everyone would attack and persecute the, individual. you remember how they would punish them well i will tell you in case you forget, they, would put them on trial and force them to repent for their sins and admit to it or be killed. the ones, who admitted to it had their names for ever ruined and tarnished. here in the states, people are not, being killed but you remember kyle smith, the owner of smith and brothers industries, well he was, accused of being a communist by one of his employees and now they are going out of business, because everyone sees him and his company as the enemy and has boycotted there products. we see, the same thing when john proctor is accused of witch craft and he loses his good name, and the, respect of the people. another example, your co–worker bill, he has been beaten and harassed for, being accused of supporting communism. he was caught at the track drunk and dancing with his, shirt off. he accused chris of poisoning him and now he has been labeled as a communist. later, we, found out chris's wife laura had an affair with bill, but laura regretted it and bill wanted her so he, tried to accuse chris of being a communist also. do you recall how in the crucible when the girls, were caught dancing naked around the cauldron they all turned on each other and abigail williams, accused elizabeth proctor of witch craft. it is crazy how when people of high stature try to gain, respect and power by making something up and saying it so much people start to freak out and lose, their minds. i wish you were here honey, i would feel so much safer with you here, knowing you i, know you could stop this madness. you have a way with people that just makes them listen and like, abigail williams manipulate fear in the crucible, " there may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice but there must never be a time, when we fail to protest." – elie wiesel. this quote communes the struggles of the citizens of salem,, massachusetts who were unjustly condemned of witchcraft during 1692. they were vulnerable, while they were convicted but a few people managed to speak out against this injustice –john, proctor, martha corey, giles corey and rebecca nurse – eventually giving up their lives for this, cause. the crucible, a play by arthur miller, tells of a forbidden affair between married man john, proctor and his servant abigail williams. their liaison is eventually discovered by john's wife,, elizabeth, leading john to call off the affair. in an endeavor to get vengeance, abigail and other, local girls attempt to place a curse on elizabeth in an occult rite in the forest one night. when their, ritual was discovered, allegations of witchcraft spread around town. when elizabeth is convicted of, being a witch, it ultimately leads john to cease the paranoia and hysteria plaguing salem. abigail, williams applied scare tactics in order to manipulate fear in the citizens of salem. one example of, how abigail williams applied scare tactics in order to manipulate fear in the citizens of salem was, when betty was unconscious after abigail and the other girls danced in the woods last night and, everyone was interrogating them about what really transpired in the forest. " now look you. all of, you. we danced. and tituba, the crucible: reputation and self image, throughout the crucible there are many themes taking place. one i always seem to notice is, protection of their reputation and self image. usually the person you see it from the most is abigail., she is constantly blaming other people or freaking out when someone's about to throw her under the, bus. abigail doesn't want to be thrown into jail or hung for her crimes. an example of her freaking, out or blaming someone would be in the courthouse. hale says "i believe him pointing at abigail:, this girl has always struck me false she has –." abigail then freaks out and starts pointing at the, ceiling. she screams and says "you will not begone begone, i say" another example of abigail, protecting her image is when she's talking to her uncle and says.
